Tomokazu Matsuyama Studio will hold the first large-scale solo exhibition in Tokyo, “FIRST LAST” at Azabudai Hills Gallery, a new art spot in Tokyo. The exhibition will feature approximately 40 works, including 15 large works on view for the first time in Japan, as well as a new series of works entitled “First Last". This exhibition will allow visitors to experience the reality of global contemporary society as captured through Matsuyama's unique identity, with powerful colors and paintings of a grand scale.

Frieze Los Angeles

February 21, 2025



Tomokazu Matsuyama Studio will present a solo exhibition booth at Frieze Los Angeles, a prestigious international contemporary art fair in LA. In partnership with Almine Rech Gallery, Matsuyama will showcase a selection of nine new large and medium-sized paintings.
Coinciding with the fair, his digital works will be screened on the iconic facade of the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood throughout the event. These works address the importance of communities that embrace the blending of various cultures while respecting their individual backgrounds.

Prior to the opening, a special talk with Dan Nadel, Curator-at-Large for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, will be held at The Maybourne Beverly Hills.
